Top Tips for Growing Your Direct Sales Facebook VIP Group

We’re living in a virtual world, friends. That means if you want your direct sales business to really, and I mean REALLY, take off, you need to be online – no ifs, ands, or buts about it. I know, I know, you got into it to hang out with your friends, but if there’s one thing 2020 has taught us, we can do that online too, right? While it may not be the same, once you get used to hosting your parties and creating business relationships for your direct sales biz online, it becomes second nature, and I promise you’re gonna love it just as much, if not more! 

Now, part of living in this virtual world is having a Facebook VIP Group! Some call it a customer group, some a VIP group, whatever you want to call it, it’s a place where you chat with all those customers who have purchased from you and are engaging in your business. But for those of you who have been around for a minute, maybe you’re struggling to grow your group, maybe you feel like you’ve hit a plateau or are a lil’ burnt out trying to do all the things, and your group feels like an added “to-do”. We’re going to add a little life back into your group with a few simple tips! 

Let’s dig in…

Promote Your Facebook VIP Group During Parties

So, the first step to any successful and profitable Facebook VIP group is what… can you guess? 

MEMBERS! 

In order for you to make money and build relationships, you need to have people in your group. So we’re going to chat about adding customers and friends to your group first. Think about this for a second… as a direct seller, where are the good majority of your new customers coming from? PARTIES, y’all! When your bestie invites their new friend from school pickup, you’re going to want to make friends with them too, right? Invite all the ladies (and gents) who attend your parties to join your Facebook VIP group. Whether that is in a Facebook live video you do during a virtual party, little business cards you sprinkle around an in-person party, or personal asks when you’re chatting people up in either party scenario. It would help if you made sure people know about the group and be constantly inviting new faces. That’s when your Facebook VIP group will start to build and grow.

Link Your Facebook VIP Group in All the Places

Part of creating new relationships personally and for your business is the follow-up. It’s not just about asking friends to join your customer group during a party; the follow-up is just as, if not more, important. When you’re following up to ask what they thought of the party, ask if they’ve received their products yet, and remember to invite them to join your private Facebook VIP group for tips and tricks on how to make the best use of those products they just bought. Make sure they know it’ll be life-changing! It’ll make them feel a real special, and it will give you the opportunity to get to know them better so you can maybe even ask them to host or join your team in the future. So, make sure your party attendee follow-up emails, texts, or calls always include an invite to your group.

To be a little more subtle about it, you can also add a link in your email signature to prompt some questions. Maybe you’re emailing back and forth with a vendor event coordinator, and she sees your link and asks to join because she really loves working with you, and the products you gifted her at the last show really made a difference for her. You never know where group members will come from. 

One more place to link is your business page! If you checked out our previous blogs, you know your business page is the public storefront, and the VIP group is for those customers who have already gotten hooked. If you’re asking new friends from your parties to like your business page for more details, then they’ll see this too and want to be part of the fun. 

So, the moral of the story is to link your Facebook VIP group in all the places and don’t be afraid to put it out there – if people don’t know about it, how are they going to know what a great community of friends they’re missing out on?

Focus on Serving & Providing Value

I’ve said it once (or twice), and I’m going to say it again—if you come from a place of service, you’re going to grow your business. The point of a Facebook VIP group for your customers is to do just that, make them feel like they are VIPs and that deserve all the juicy little nuggets to make their lives better with your products and in general. Make your group value-focused. Now, that doesn’t mean you can’t sell products but think about the WAY you’re selling those products. Give them how-to videos, provide them with freebies, offer up your insider tips and tricks. Don’t just say “buy my stuff, please,” because that’s literally just going to put all of your customers off and hurt your direct sales business more than help it. Make your Facebook VIP group a place where people WANT to hang out and bring their friends because they love what you’re serving up so much! 

Be Consistently Engaged

For your Facebook VIP group to grow, you need to be engaged. You need to be posting daily. You need to be responding to every single comment and prompting conversations between your new friends and customers in your group. If there is no engagement, no fun things to discover, why would someone want to join? 

To drive engagement, though, the main thing you need to do is show up. Just show up, y’all. This doesn’t mean you have to literally live on your Facebook customer group, or that you need to spend two hours thinking of what to post every day, but it does mean that you need to hop on for 10 minutes while dinner is heating up to answer a few questions. It means you pop on for a Facebook live to say hi while the baby is napping for a couple of minutes. The more you engage with your customers in that group on a consistent basis, the greater benefit for your long-term (and short-term) business growth! You can go ahead and schedule every post for a month, but once it’s scheduled, make sure to jump in the comments section and interact. This will save you time and allow you to be consistent without the stress. Engagement is born from consistency!
